Titus 2:3-5
3 Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, 4 and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.

Ah, one of our favorite passages. I know it’s one of mine 🙂 Basic guidelines for women to use to live a God honoring life. We who are older, should be reverent…
Reverent means… as becometh holiness. Ok, what is holiness?  To be holy, perfect.. OUCH!
One of my favorite commentaries says, we are to be examples of self-discipline in our living.  Ok, and not to be slanderers. Why do we as women find it so easy to gossip? Are we really that hard-hearted or is it something else? I pray we find the grace and the realization that we  do not need to gossip and bring others down as we are being lifted up. He loves us dearly and we are His treasure. Let our words be evidence of that 😉
We are teachers. We are all teachers. People watch us as we go about our lives. Let our behavior be gracious and loving. We should be teaching what is good. And He is good!
He is good at all times and we should be examples of that goodness! When those who are younger than ourselves, see  us, let our witness be that He is good. No matter what happens, He is good. He is good and He is faithful to meet each need.
Young ladies are watching us, dear ones! Even if we do not want them to, they are.  How do we live in this world with grace and strength. How do we be real for them? Do we come off as ‘always having it all together”  and lay guilt on others because they know they don’t have it, this life down perfect? Who does? we need to let our guards down. Put away that “Church Face”  and  let’s get past our own insecurities that they do not have to fall  into the same traps we did 🙂
For those young mammas. It is ok when your child cries and doesn’t want to go into the nursery! He’s having a fit and wants to cling. These days really are short. Enjoy them! Hold onto them. NO ONE will think any different or less of you as a momma if you are meeting their needs! And also, while I’m on my soap box, you older mamma, why not offer to walk that precious one who is crying so she can hear the message? ok .. jumping off 🙂
We need not to be laying guilt on other women in our lives and in our church but let’s be real! We are all not perfect and there is no such person as that perfect woman! We are all precious in His sight and we must be women of love! This battle between the woman at home full-time and the woman who works in the marketplace  is leaving a sour mark on our faiths, ladies. And I’ve been guilty of it myself. But we must be women living and giving grace! God has His own plan for each family and each woman. Who are we to judge? ok, jumping back off my soap box once again 🙂
When we are living a life pleasing to Him, His Word is not blasphemed, or reviled. When we are living a life of reverence, grace and love, we are giving a good impression on Him.
How can we be more real today?
