Motherhood is a Ministry

Proverbs31Jewels-Mom and Children Cooking

Dear Ones, I have been writing on this subject for many years.. this is a subject near and dear to my heart 🙂 I want to be an encouragement to those who would read my blog. This is why I started blogging years ago, though I didn’t realize that is what I was doing. I started to just write an online journal 🙂 I was just sharing my heart .. But now I will be writing a series on the ministry of motherhood!

He gives the barren woman a home,
making her the joyous mother of children.
Praise the LORD!

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. 2001 (Ps 113:9). Wheaton: Standard Bible Society.

Mothering is a full-time job 🙂 Whether you are home full-time or working outside the home, we are all on duty 24 hours a day .. It is a calling. A passionate calling. One not for the weak of heart.  Ask any momma who has stayed up all night with a crying newborn or sat with a teenager while they are doing their projects that are due the next morning. We are called to be selfless and protective. We are created to be loving and patient…yes, patient. With the help that comes from the Lord

We are created to be mothers with a mission. Our mission field is at home! It is in our neighborhoods and in our workplaces but it all starts first at home.   Being a Proverbs 31 Jewel is a day in and day out lifestyle. We are not superwoman but we are called to be devoted 🙂 We all know the passage. It is easily misunderstood. Often, we use it to self condemn ourselves.  But instead, let us read it as what it is…Our High Calling!

Our tasks each day are long. Our work loads are taxing on our strength and our home life can become stressful with all the requirements and demands put on our families with all the activities we are all involved in.  So much to accomplish and we as wives and mothers can feel overwhelmed but there is a source of peace. Jesus is our only source of Peace. Are we drinking from this well of life?  Jesus says in John 7:37,

Rivers of Living Water
37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. 2001 (Jn 7:37-38).

We must be plugged into our Source of peace and allow His Spirit to work through us. Finding our strength in Him will bring peace to our homes. Ever heard the phrase, “If momma ain’t happy, no one is happy’? We are the heart of our homes. We are the emotional barometer of our families. Our dependence on Christ is imperative to our peace of mind.

I hope to be an encouragement to you in the days to come with this series. I am also wanting this to be an open discussion so please speak up on your thoughts on mothering! Leave comments and join in the discussion!
