On a Journey of Restoration
I have been missing in action as I have been at a women’s retreat. It has been a completely different experience than I had expected. I found myself on a journey of restoration..I came in seeking one thing but did not realize that He had a completely different plan. Have you ever been in that place where He completely surprises you? I do not necessarily like being surprised like that. I like having control. YIKES… I can truly deceive myself when I tell myself I have any control … can I hear an amen out there?
But, I digress. We had two amazing women speak to us on restoration. These women gave their stories and it was quite moving. They gave stories of radical redemption. Some of us do not have a radical story but..We all have stories, dear ones! They shared with great joy, some tears and honesty everything that God had done for them… where they were and where they are now. Not everyone has been so far down in that pit of sin yet even those who aren’t the prodigal but the child who ‘has done everything right’ has sinned and understands condemnation because all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We all have our redemption story. That moment that we have come to the cross and found His free gift of grace. Â Yet, how many of us still dwell in the shame of our stories and not grab onto the joy and peace that He willingly has given us when He gave us salvation? He paid that price for us on the cross, why don’t we accept His love for us?
This passage is prophetic of Christ. He Himself reads a portion of this passage in Luke 4:18-19.
1Â The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
Because the LORD has anointed me
To bring good news to the afflicted;
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to captives
And freedom to prisoners;
2Â To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD
And the day of vengeance of our God;
He speaks of His ministry. Jesus has come to bring the good news of Yahweh’s love. He has come to free us of our sin and our baggage that has hindered our freedom! He has come to bring liberty.. this comes from the word, derôwr,   and it means..freedom; hence spontaneity of outflow, and so clear:—liberty, pure.  Freedom. clear and pure. (Strong’s)  Girls.. can you here the word for you today? Jesus has and continuing to give you freedom from your sins and wants to break the bondage of any baggage, of any chains that are on you!
Crack Open the Word!
Continue to read on in Isaiah 61 and read of His will for you! He wants to….
To comfort all who mourn,
3Â To grant those who mourn in Zion,
Giving them a garland instead of ashes,
The oil of gladness instead of mourning,
The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting.
So they will be called oaks  of righteousness,
The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.
4Â Then they will rebuild the ancient ruins,
They will raise up the former devastations;
And they will repair the ruined cities,
The desolations of many generations.
5Â Strangers will stand and pasture your flocks,
And foreigners will be your farmers and your vinedressers.
6Â But you will be called the priests of the LORD;
You will be spoken of as ministers of our God.
You will eat the wealth of nations,
And in their riches you will boast.
7Â Instead of your shame you will have a double portion,
And instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion.;
Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land,
Everlasting joy will be theirs.
New American Standard Bible: 1995 update. (1995). (Is 61:1–7).Â
This will be our passage this week as I continue to share my heart and what I learned this week. Â I am on a journey of restoration. Â I am on a journey which I did not realize until this weekend, He had started me on over 10 years ago. Ever have someone prophesy over you and you do not either see it as realistic or think it has already passed? I am finding that He has been speaking to me through His Word and others for over 10 years the same thing but differently and I am just now seeing how the thread of His truth has been weaving over my heart for so long! He is faithful and He is just! Â Â “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus”(Phip 1:6, NASB). Â Dear ones, Â I want to encourage you to “crack open the Word” with me this week to quote one of the lovely ladies who spoke this weekend. Â I will share more this week, won’t you join me?
in His love,
