We Are On The Same Team

We Are On The Same Team!

on the same team

I had an amazing time recently and was able to ‘spy’ and observe strong, gracious, capable women who are in ministry. I was so encouraged! I saw wonderful women who are serving Christ in their local congregations as pastors and leaders with wisdom and love.  They were taking a moment to gather and encourage each other at a conference which included men as well. Well-thought out questions being asked to stir each woman on were given. Discussions on how to properly behave with dignity and honor and how to behave in such a manner as to also receive dignity and honor in return. A young leader wisely mentioned, “We are all on the same team.”

As I grow older, I have a new appreciation for women and the gifts He gives to each one of His girls. He has not created us to be the same. He does not have a one size fits all mold. Some are called to serve Him at home full-time and yes, some He calls to the workplace full-time. Some are called to have a family and children. Some are called to be single. Yet, we are all on the same team.

In the past, we women have not had the same opportunities in ministry or in the work place as men. For reasons we can discuss, many have been discouraged about using their gifts to serve Christ and others. I also, have to say, we have segregated each other as well. We put up fences  and put others into boxes. We debate the work at home vs work outside the home. We argue that a woman has no place serving at church other than in the nursery or kitchen or if one is called to teach, the woman feels the need to be on the defensive. This should not be, as … we are on the same team.

We are on the same team as men. We are all commanded to go out and make disciples. “And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matt 28:18-20, NASB)

I was so encouraged by the welcome and the encouragement that was given to all as we serve others in the name of Christ from all in the group. We are all called. We are all to be about His kingdom business. Are you on the team?
