I am tired. I have just returned from another trip of a lifetime with my family. I have been hanging out with those I love. It might just be the last one with all my children with me as we are a family in transition. They are growing up and starting to find their own way in this world. We went to Hawaii with my brother and his wife, Amanda (co-admin and Jewel). We celebrated our two High School graduates. It was such fun! It was so much to take in! I will remember this time for many years to come.
Beach, the Sun, the Smells and Beauty of the Island state are beyond compare, second only to the people who live there. This was the view outside from my balcony… as my father would joke, “Cleaning Living!”
Life passes by so quickly and we can get so busy in our day-to-day lives that we can miss out on joys that are right smack in front of us! It is good to get away and focus on what truly matters. Family. Friends. Enjoying the Life God has given us.
I am so easily distracted with my to do’s and want to’s. But, He is good and He draws me back to His Word. We are going through Chapter three of Colossians in our Bible Study Group and it is rich with wisdom and guidance. It commands me to keep seeking the things above. Looking up to the One whom I desire to be like. He is to be my focus. I want to become like what I behold. What I focus on, I become like. Ever chastise your child for who they hang out with ? It is so true. We all become like who we hang out with.
1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
New American Standard Bible: 1995 update. (1995). (Col 3:1–4).
When I hang out with my family at the beach, to quote my son, “I get my ‘Gordon’ on!” When I hang out with Son of God, holy and beloved, I ‘get my Jesus on’! I want to resemble the One who loves everyone. I want to look like the One who died for me, all in the name of amazing grace. If I seek the One above, I too, have been raised to life. I want to ‘get my Jesus on!”
How about you? Who are you hanging out with today?
