About the Jewels
We started out as an email loop named Christmums in 1997. We are antiques when it comes to online ministries 🙂 We started as a fellowship list for mothers to hang out when our babies were taking naps. We have morphed and changed over the years to finally ending up as a social network called Proverbs 31 Jewels.com Many bloggers know me as A Country Mom from blogger. I have had a blog of some kind since the mid 2000’s. I even had one started on Xanga.. now that dates me! But I, Nancy Adams, the founder, still felt there was missing a resource to grow out of the wisdom of mothers coming together. We have expanded to include all Bible Believing women as we have grown . So I felt a name change was in order. Hence, the birth of our new online, blog Proverbs 31 Jewels. Please join us at www.facebook.com/groups/proverbs31jewels and share fellowship. Share a recipe or two. Jump in the waters!!
I pray, as Paul did in Philippians 1, I thank my God in my remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now. For I am confident of this very thing, hat He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:3-6
As the Founder of Proverbs 31 Jewels, I thought I would share my testimony with you. I was blessed to be raised up in love and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. My parents loved the Lord and taught each of their children the gospel and raised us to have our own relationship. As a result, I was saved, asked the Lord to be my own Savior at the age of nine. Baptized in water soon after. Raised on the Word of God, I grew up knowing He loved me. As a young parent, I found myself needing more. I needed more than a Savior but I needed Jesus to also be my Lord. As I am approaching mid-life, and watching my five children growing strong, I am grateful for Jesus Who Supplies all our Needs! He is my all and my first love. Now, I am raising my children up in the love and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, with my husband of almost 25 years, Bill. Together, we are raising our children have their own relationship with Christ.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am Nancy’s sister-in-law but I just call her my sister because I don’t have any siblings and I love Nancy like she was one. I’m not sure how much information about myself is relevant or even interesting so I’ll just lay a few things out there for now and then we can enjoy the journey and mystery of getting to know one another better in days to come.
I am originally from Texas (note the Hi Ya’ll” in the title) and was raised in the Baptist church where I as saved and baptized at 8 years of age. If you will indulge me I might add that I had the coolest white chiffon, frilly dress with a big floppy Easter hat to match that day. Man, I was stylin’. Okay, so I digress. Anyway, I was a single mom for a great many years until I met Nancy’s lovely brother, Mark and thus began the adventures of Mark and Mandy! We created a blended family. I can say proudly that we have all survived though there are times I look back and marvel at how the Lord pulled it off. Together we have 4 children — two are Mark’s by birth — one is mine by birth — one is OURS by birth. Whew! I”m already exhausted. Are you bored yet?
We only have one left at home…Yes, you guessed it. The “OURS” one. He is a teenager and a joy to parent. Our other three are all grown and building lives of their own. I think you will enjoy getting to know them all as we walk the blog path together.
I work full-time in the sports hospitality industry, am a professional vocalist, a wanna be artists, a dog lover and an avid gardener.
I love the Lord with all my heart. I fail him every day and he still loves me which makes me love him all the more.
I am so excited to be a part of Proverbs31jewels and look forward to sharing my insights and gaining from all of yours.
With that I would like to pose a question…
What do you think is the most difficult challenge facing working mothers today?
Be blessed and talk to you soon!
I am the type of girl who lives off of books, coffee, and Netflix. My perfect day is spent next to the fire while reading a book or watching TV. My dream is to be a teacher. I graduated in 2013 with my Bachelor’s at CSU Stanislaus. I immediately went and received my teaching credential last year at the same university. My next goal is to find a job. I love Jesus. I love my family. I love children. This is who I am.
Hey y’all! I’m California raised, and I’m proud of that (fun fact: NorCal is way better than SoCal). Although I grew up as a product of the West Coast, I will be heading to Liberty University, in Virginia, this fall to study Pastoral Leadership and Communications. Some of my favorite things include Jesus, coffee, and beaches. In fact, one of my favorite places is called Mr. Toots Coffee Shop in Capitola, Ca.
I grew up being heavily involved in my church, Valley Christian Center. From being a part of their children’s choir, having parents who were heavily involved in the worship ministry, church plays, children’s church, being a pastor’s kid for a few years, and attending Valley Christian Schools, Dublin, I grew up learning to love and serve Jesus. When I was in the eighth grade, some adults who I deeply respected began to tell me that they could see me being a pastor. The idea made sense to me, but I didn’t know if that was what God wanted me to do with my life. The summer going into Freshman year, I went to youth camp, and, to be honest, I didn’t feel like I was learning anything new. But, on the last night, the camp director began to talk about ministry, and he said that as he went through every type of ministry, if you felt called to be a part of it, then stand. I told God that when He wanted me to stand I would, and when he got to senior pastor, I knew that God was telling me to stand. So, with a heart mixed with fear and excitement, I stood.
Now, I am overjoyed to step onto the path that God has for me. I don’t know what tomorrow has in store, but I know that rain or shine, God has good things in store for me.
