Thanksgiving Ramblings

thanksgiving card 2009 Thanksgiving RamblingsSo much to be thankful! This is the week we concentrate on all of His blessings.I will have most of my family with me around my table. He has seen us through a difficult year and He is still walking with us into the future. His mercies are new every morning and His faithfulness endures forever.

My List Continues

  • Listening to my son bang on the drums. I love watching him find his niche. Learning  who God created him to be is fascinating to me.
  • Watching my daughter act out in a drama performance. She really is a drama queen and proves it is a good thing if done for His glory icon smile Thanksgiving Ramblings
  • Hearing my oldest son’s dreams and plans as he is finishing up High School this year.
  • Watching my oldest daughter turn into a strong Godly young woman. Hearing and watching how God is preparing to use her in the lives of children is humbling and inspiring.
  • Seeing the results of long years of prayers in our middle son. The story of his life is not yet written but his life is turning into a miracle
  • Seeing a new ‘me’. God is opening a vision for my life. He is renewing my life. God is soo good!

I am so blessed icon smile Thanksgiving Ramblings Even as hard as life can be stressful, even difficult at times, I have much to be thankful for this year.. so here’s a blessing for you!

Homemaker’s Notebook-Again!

25  Strength and dignity are her clothing,
momandchildrencookingprov31 300x241 Homemakers Notebook Again!and she laughs at the time to come.
26  She opens her mouth with wisdom,
and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
27  She looks well to the ways of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28  Her children rise up and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29  “Many women have done excellently,
but you surpass them all.”
30  Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. 2001 (Pr 31:25–30). Wheaton: Standard Bible Society.

Dear ones,

I want to be ‘That WOMAN’. I want to be what God calls me to be. She was industrious, she was bold and she loved her family. She was fully devoted to her God and the tasks, the ministry of her life.  She is honest and hard-working. I believe we all want to be what God calls us to be as individual women. Whether we are at home full-time or not. We all need to be focused on what matters. We are so busy, we must be tender-hearted to His guidance. We must determine what is better and what is best and settle only for the best.  And as we learn to focus solely on the best, we grow in strength and in wisdom.

And for me, I need focus. I have so much going on, our schedule now is hectic to say the least. I love to be organized. When life is in disarray or disorderly, it causes stress in my world. I need to keep it simple. And I need to write everything down or I forget. I used to pride myself at never missing an appointment but that has not been the case lately. So I need a ‘Do Over”.

I used to have this large homemaker’s notebook and then I made it smaller but thicker icon wink Homemakers Notebook Again! It was a pain to drag with me everywhere but it kept me focused and on schedule. Then, my beloved gave me a tablet icon wink Homemakers Notebook Again! I LOVE IT!  It is always handy but I still need to write things down. Having my calendar online or on my tab is helping quite a bit icon smile Homemakers Notebook Again! But, I must admit, I am finding it a little difficult to change my old ways.  How shocking it is that I am not changing! NOT..I am a creature of habit. So, with prayer and a desire not to get in a rut, I am going to have a notebook once again icon smile Homemakers Notebook Again! I am going to use both and here where you come in…

I am going to share it with you! So here is your first treat!  Here is your First Freebie from Proverbs 31 Jewels! Daily Planner and a bonus page…To Do List   I am open to suggestions to what  you want to see in your notebook! What areas? Cleaning Tips? Recipe Pages? Homeschooling Pages? Curriculum Pages? I would be honored for your opinion icon smile Homemakers Notebook Again!

I will be adding more in the days to come icon smile Homemakers Notebook Again! I hope you are blessed!

Motherhood is a Ministry Series, Day Three

MotherhoodMinistrySeries Motherhood is a Ministry Series, Day Three

Blessings, Mommas!

I pray you had a wonderful weekend! Our weekends are becoming really busy since school is approaching and the football season has started! Setting up a new routine for school can be taxing and exillerating a the same time! I LOVE this time of year! I take this time to refine my schedules, make new menus and a lot of shopping for clothes and school supplies.

Many  mothers are preparing lunches and car pooling schedules, making plans for after-school activities and the care of our charges. My prayers are with all of us as we pray and plan for the  new adventure of a new year. Plans and schedules are my friend icon wink Motherhood is a Ministry Series, Day Three I may not always stick with them to a “t” but they help my world run smoothly. Here are a few reasons why..

  • Do you plan ahead? Schedules and Plans relieve stress. Taking the time to set up menus and grocery lists so you only have to shop once a week is a time saver. It also saves a lot on the budget.
  • Keep a record of teacher notes.. many teachers now send home.
  • Have a homework nook set up. Have a designated quiet area for homework.
  • If you homeschool, set up a schedule which allows for freedom of learning but also has set times to leave the school room for outside fun! Plan times also for your homekeeping to be completed.Do not allow laundry to pile or dishes to add up in the kitchen. This is a stress reliever icon smile Motherhood is a Ministry Series, Day Three
  • Keep a calendar that incorporates every family members schedule. Keep it posted and updated! This is the hard part.. keep it updated! We are using cozi.com and it goes to each member’s’ phone icon smile Motherhood is a Ministry Series, Day Three
  • Keep a notebook or smart phone with a notepad on it with you everywhere you go! Keep a small purse sized accordion file to keep daily receipts when you are out and about.
  • Simplify everything you can! Keep the back packs ready to go the night before, laid out by the front door. Make your lunches the night before and store them in the fridge. Anything you can do the night before makes for an easier morning!
  • Keep an in and out box system for mail and notes from the school room if you home school or papers to return to the teacher at your school. A good filing system helps keep moms on track!
  • Have a family dinner night. Try to always eat together when possible. This not only keeps communication open and allows to find out what needs to be done. I cannot recommend this strong enough!

There are just a start. I would LOVE to read and share your tips for a smooth running new school year!  Please leave a comment and I will share it tomorrow!

Short Cuts Galore!

vintagehomemaking Short Cuts Galore!A while back, Amanda, aka ChristianWkgMom, asked, what are your short cuts? We want to hear from YOU! Please comment with your favorite tip!

  • Have a menu. Prepare a menu for each week. Maybe even two. Shop with this in mind and thus helps not only the budget but also on time because you’re not wondering what to make and what you have in your freezer.
  • Have a schedule. Now wait a minute before crying icon smile Short Cuts Galore! I’m not asking you to be legalistic or rigid but have a plan. Have a calendar that each member’s schedule is on it. Color code it for easy tracking icon smile Short Cuts Galore! Cozi.com has a really nice program. And it’s free!
  • Once a month cook. You always have a meal prepared in your freezer! You can spend one day a month or two and cook up two to a month’s worth of meals OR just double up your meals for a week or two and freeze one each night. Homemade meals already to go icon smile Short Cuts Galore!
  • For homework, have an inbox for all day’s work and an outbox so you can check them before returning to school.
  • have a binder with a  section for each member of the family. Add a pocket divider and add all receipts, important info, invites, etc. This helps keep momma straight and kids at the right place icon wink Short Cuts Galore!
  • quarterly, try to clean out closets and make ‘blessing boxes’ and allow your children to help icon smile Short Cuts Galore! Keep the clutter down. Less to clean!

what are some of yours?
