ok ladies, I made my first batch of soap thanks to Kim at Marrmee’s Pantry! This was also a good lesson for Cody who has been learning about famines, water, keeping it clean, what happenes when things are added to water such as salt and how it dissolves.. etc.. how better then watch it take place 🙂
I took a pan, wooden spoon, grater and whisk.. all labeled to be used only for soap making 🙂 I gathered Fels Neptha, Arm and Hammer Washing Soda, Borax and lavendar essential oil.

Next, we put 8 cups of water in  the pan, put it on the stove to get it warm. Cody then started to grate 1/4 bar of Fels Neptha soap. We then added 1/4 c each of the Washing Soda and Borax and whisked them together gently.

Then we added it to the water and turned it up to medium high. We stirred it until everything dissolved in the water.
Next, we stirred it occaisionally for 20 minutes. We then took it off the heat and let stand in the pan. It gelled a bit and then we added it to the air tight container. I will use it tomorrow. I am so excited!
with much love,
Mrs. A
